Learn More About SecurityWhat can I do to protect my privacy?
In order to protect your privacy while using the Blood Chem Software program:
Is the software capable of importing lab results directly from the lab rather than relying on manual entry?
The software currently supports lab result import from Evexia Diagnostics, Empire City Lab, LabTech, Access Medical Labs, and Ulta Lab Tests. Once one of these lab companies completes a lab test, our system securely communicates with their system to import the lab values directly into the software without needing to do manual entry. We are looking to expand this functionality in the future to include more lab companies.
Can the software create reports from any lab tests or does it need an exact set?
The software creates reports based on the results you receive and enter into the platform from the particular blood testing lab you use (e.g., Labcorp or Quest). There are no preset panels that need to be run in order to enter into the software. The software is set up to accept results for over 115 individual biomarkers, and the software will calculate eight or more powerful Functional Medicine ratios for you. The more results you enter into the system, the better job the software does with creating probability-based results.

What do you mean by “Enter Unlimited Lab Tests”?
We understand that many practices run a lot of blood tests each month and may also have historical blood test data on their patients that they’d like to put into the system, so we decided to offer unlimited lab tests at any plan level. Basically, a “lab test” constitutes the results you get back from a lab — not the individual biomarkers themselves! Once you enter the data from that lab test into the system and press save, it counts as one lab test in the system. Plans at the Basic level and up allow you to enter as many lab tests into the system as you want.
Does your software provide recommendations for nutritional supplements?
Yes. What’s more, we are independent from supplement companies, so we can provide protocols and recommendations from multiple companies. At this time we have protocols from:
We have 2 supplement driven reports: 1) a Health Improvement Plan that lists all the products recommended for the top eight clinical dysfunctions, deficiencies and conditions and provides the name, dosage and product description; and 2) a shorter Product Summary Report that lists the individual products in a table format that the patient can easily post on their fridge.
Can I re-order Biomarkers in the lab templates in the software to match the order I get on my lab results?
Absolutely. We have set it up so that you can not only reorder lab templates to match the biomarker order on the original lab but also so you can create unique and specific new templates to match popular panels you might run.
Can you add amino acids and fatty acid tests? Can I add results from a salivary hormone test? What about urine dipstick analysis?
The software currently has over 115 individual biomarkers and we add to that list all the time. We are very open to suggestions as to which additional elements to add to the software. The Optimal DX Software is set to do a Functional Analysis of the standard chemistry screen and CBC/hematology test plus a few common elements. We want to keep it simple and easy to use, so at this time we have no plans on adding urinalysis, salivary hormones, or amino acid testing. Given the popularity of advanced lipid fractionation testing, we plan on adding that to the software in the future. If you have biomarkers you want to see in the software then please consider helping us out by gathering important data. Please email us at support@optimaldx.com to let us know your interest, and we can send you a detailed document we use to gather important biomarker data.
Can you use this program on an iPad?
Yes. You can access the software through the browser on your iPad, but at present there is no custom app for Apple or Android devices.
Can the software show comparisons over time?
Absolutely. We feel that it’s essential to look at change over time, which is why the Optimal DX Software includes a historical report that compares the last seven lab tests. This greatly increases compliance, and many practitioners have said that it makes it easier to have patients repeat tests because they are keen to see how their values have changed. In the Functional Blood Test Comparative report, we list the results from the latest test and the previous test next to one another so you can quickly see a change from the time of the previous test to the present test in the system.
Is there a list of the tests that can be interpreted by the software?
Yes. Please CLICK HERE to view a list of all the biomarkers that are built into the software.

Is there an area in the software where I can enter patient history and other patient facts (i.e., prior exams, etc.)?
Not at this point. We are working on our next software project: “Functional Signs and Symptoms Analysis.” This project will give you the opportunity to provide your patients a comprehensive Health Appraisal Questionnaire and have the results analyzed and a complete report generated. We are working on ways to have this as either a stand-alone product or integrated with your Optimal DX Software account. With the integration, you’ll be able to see the results of the questionnaire side by side with the blood test results.
I’m from outside the US and my labs are using different units and reference ranges? Can I use the software?
Absolutely. There is no need to convert Standard International units into US units to use this software! This is the only software that we are aware of that is 100% usable by practitioners from all over the world. US practitioners use the software in US unit mode while practitioners from Canada, New Zealand, Australia, etc. can input data in Standard International units. Functional Health Reports can be run in either US or Standard International Units. The software does the conversion for you.
Do you provide any type of training to teach us how to get the most out of the software?
Yes, we have a mini e-mail and video-based training as well as instructional inline videos throughout the software. You’ll receive an email from us directing you to a short video that showcases some aspects of the software: entering patient data, creating custom profiles, how to use the reminder system, entering data into the system, the report center, how to read the reports, how to communicate the reports to your patients, etc.
How do I add new biomarkers that aren’t in your system?
Currently the software system comes with a predetermined series of biomarkers, which are the most common on a blood chemistry and CBC test. Lipoproteins are not currently in the system. We have a “Practitioner’s Notes'' section that allows you to write in notes on tests that are not currently in the software program. You can then choose to make these notes available to the patient in the printed report or not. We are adding new biomarkers into the software, and you will need to add those biomarkers to your lab profiles that you have created within the software. Once the new biomarker has been added to your profiles, you can start inputting data on those biomarkers.
Do I need to install the software onto my computer?
No. Since the software is web-based, there’s nothing to install. Furthermore, when a new feature is released, you’ll get it automatically and for free.
What does the Functional Health Report look like?

What is the ODX Premium Membership and how do I upgrade??
The ODX Premium Membership is a feature we built into the ODX Platform to accommodate multi-practitioner clinics, staff users that enter data, or multiple clinics in different geographical locations.
The main ODX Premium Member, the admin, can add practitioner and staff users to their accounts. This provides them with an admin interface to manage their users. It allows for unified branding across accounts, sharing Blood Test Credits, or setting up Blood Chemistry (Unlimited) add-ons for all practitioners. This allows unlimited blood tests to be added to the platform and the ability to integrate with one or more of our labs, so blood test results are entered automatically into the software.
Visit your Billing Page and click the "Upgrade to Premium" link to get started!
How can I cancel my account?
Although we would hate to see you go, you may cancel your ODX Membership at any time.
Visit the billing page in your ODX Platform account and click the link on the bottom right to close your account. You’ll continue to have access to your membership, your credits, and any add-ons you have purchased up to the date of your renewal, after that, your account will be permanently closed.
Canceling your ODX Membership will permanently close the account. We do not allow account reactivations. If you want to maintain access to your patients, lab tests, treatment plans, "My Products", etc. we recommend that you keep a $20/month ODX Membership. This allows you to add future blood tests on a Pay-As-You-Go basis rather than keeping a monthly Blood Chemistry (Unlimited) add-on.
Please Note:
Is there a contract for a specified period of time?
We do not have a long-term contract for becoming a user of our software. We offer a no-contract monthly ODX Membership at $20/month, which provides you with a Pay-As-You-Go experience for purchasing blood test credits to add a blood test into the software. Once that blood test has been entered, you can do many things:
The cost of a blood test credit is $45
We also have a Blood Chemistry (Unlimited) Add-On, which allows you to add in unlimited blood tests for a flat fee of $197/month
