Thallium Displaces Potassium... Is that a Problem?

Thallium is a highly toxic metal often found in our environment due to industrial activities, such as coal burning and mineral smelting.

Even though it's dangerous, thallium can trick our body because it acts like potassium, a necessary mineral. This deceit can cause many health problems, including hair loss, stomach issues, sleep problems, and even death.

People can be exposed to thallium through contaminated food, water, or air. For example, vegetables like cabbage or kale grown in polluted soil might have higher thallium levels. Moreover, nuclear stress tests and rat poisons use forms of thallium, which might contribute to exposure.
