The ABCs of TILT, MCS, and Immune Dysfunction

Exposure to toxic chemicals, pesticides, heavy metals, and other pollutants can accumulate in the body, leading to toxicant-induced loss of tolerance (TILT), which is linked with multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS) and a wide range of health issues including altered neurotransmitter activity and immune dysfunction.

Individuals with TILT become highly sensitive to very low levels of chemicals and other environmental triggers that they previously tolerated, leading to severe physical and neuropsychological symptoms from minimal exposures.

The concept of TILT emerged following an increase in the use of petrochemicals post-World War II, highlighting how modern chemical exposure can lead to heightened sensitivities and adverse health effects, including sensitivity to smells like gasoline and cleaning products.

Management of TILT involves identifying and avoiding triggers, with a focus on reducing exposure to both chemical substances and electromagnetic fields to alleviate symptoms and improve overall health.
