Oh My… Myeloneuropathy Nutrient Deficiencies

Myeloneuropathy is a condition where damage occurs to both the spinal cord and peripheral nerves, leading to symptoms like difficulty walking, weakness, and numbness or tingling in the hands and feet.

Deficiencies in certain nutrients—especially vitamin B12, folate, vitamin E, and copper—can cause or worsen this condition. Early detection through medical testing is important, as these deficiencies often mimic other neurological disorders and can result from factors like poor diet, certain medications, surgeries, or chronic alcoholism. Recognizing and treating these nutritional deficiencies promptly can lead to significant improvement in symptoms.
