Estimated average glucose (eAG) reflects general glucose control over the past 2-3 months as it translates hemoglobin A1C into easy-to-understand values... the same values that blood glucose is expressed as.
If blood glucose control worsens and becomes elevated over time, the eAG will reflect this trend. It can also reflect better control. The eAG is not the same as fasting glucose and they are not interchangeable. However, as blood glucose regulation worsens, the fasting glucose and the eAG become more and more alike.
