Small LDLs Can be a Big Problem

Written by ODX Admin | May 23, 2023 10:41:00 PM

Small low-density lipoprotein (LDL) particles are linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and are a better indicator of risk than measuring LDL cholesterol. Smaller, denser LDL particles are more prone to harmful changes, making them more likely to contribute to heart disease.

They are also associated with other health issues such as high triglycerides, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, and arthritis. A healthy diet, regular exercise, and certain nutritional supplements can help lower small LDL levels, and low levels of small LDLs are considered healthy.

Levels of small LDL particles can be measured with ion mobility technology.
