Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease of the central nervous system that can lead to symptoms such as cognitive problems, inflammation, nerve damage, and vision loss.
Factors increasing MS risk include a poor diet high in processed foods and animal fats, obesity, low physical activity, smoking, and inadequate vitamin D and sun exposure.
On the other hand, a balanced, anti-inflammatory eating pattern (like the Mediterranean diet), maintaining a healthy weight, ensuring adequate nutrients (especially omega-3s and vitamins A and D), supporting gut health, exercising regularly, and moderate sun exposure may help lower the risk.
